With the amount of chest-to-bar pull-ups, toes-to-bar and bar muscle-ups likely heading our way, gymnastics grips and tape are the go-to methods when trying to protect from tearing hands. For the 2018 CrossFit Open, there is a new standard in place.
Athletes may still use gymnastics grips (i.e. Bear Komplex, Victory Grips, etc) or gloves. Athletes may also use tape on the pull-up bar.
HOWEVER, athletes may not use grips AND tape around the bar at the same time.
Also, CrossFit maintains its standard that regardless of the method used to protect your hands, it shall not “confer an advantage.”
