This past Sunday, Chandler Smith was deployed to Bulgaria. Smith, a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army’s Armor branch, will be overseas for the next nine months serving our country.
The deployment will mean that Smith will have to sit out the 2018 CrossFit Games season. Smith withdrew from the 2017 CrossFit Open after severing his ring finger.
Smith’s long-term goal, however, is to qualify for the CrossFit Games by 2022, so keep an eye out for him when he returns to the States next summer.
Perfect representation of how I’m running around trying to see everyone before I leave for this upcoming all-expenses paid, nine month Army vacation to Europe. On the plus side I’ll get to go full cardio bunny mode, try to get as fast as @alecsmith8, and continue to have an excuse for why I lose strength events. #EnginesWinChampionships #TheyCanHideButTheyCantRun #OnAMission #ToStayRelevantEnoughToSlideOntoAGoodTeamForWZA2019 #CrossFit
