Jamie Greene won the 2016 CrossFit Open, finishing in the top 11 in every workout. At the submission deadline for 16.5, Jamie Greene’s name was at the top of the leaderboard with 7:23. This was 13 seconds faster than Sam Briggs and would secure Greene’s first place worldwide.
But when CrossFit announced the winners of 16.5, Sam Briggs earned the victory. Per the article on the Games site, “Greene’s score was assessed a minor penalty of 20 seconds because she failed to meet the required depth in the bottom position of a few thrusters.”
Even with the 20 second penalty, Greene took third on 16.5 and held on to win the Open. Now, she is expected to forego the individual invitation to regionals and instead compete with CrossFit Yas in the team competition.
