If you follow the sport of CrossFit, you know who Patrick Vellner is. Vellner tore through the Canada East region during last year’s Open, qualified for the Games with a torn bicep and finished on the podium at the CrossFit Games. The former gymnast showed that he has what it takes to compete at the highest level and will be competing at the East Regional once again this year.
But if you follow Vellner’s Instagram account, you might have seen Patrick share a post or two about some of the stunts his brother has done. Patrick’s brother, Jonathan, is an artist in the Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. A quick glance at Jonathan’s Instagram shows us that crazy good gymnastics skills run in the Vellner family.

That feeling when you crush an act so hard you get a mid-show standing ovation… — #throwback to this intense moment from One Night for One Drop 2017 where I close our act with a triple backflip back to the board. I’m incredibly thankful and honoured to have been trusted with this high-pressure moment in the show. The crowd’s energy, mixed with my own overwhelming feelings of pride and relief when I put it to my feet… Wow… Let me tell you, that’s a powerful cocktail! What a life! — #shoutout to @olisabou, who pushed this trick, and to the rest of our sick planche team: @k3sito, @triotequiero, @gregpenn07, and Max. It was so much fun working with you guys!
Sending flips off cliffs is one of my favourite feelings! Here’s me throwing a running full full (two flips, two twists) off the cliffs at Nelson’s Landing. 📹: @justintesh Thanks to @scottamcdonald for the original share, and for showing me this place. I’ll definitely be back! Tag a friend who would throw down off these cliffs!
