Dave Castro announces Murph

Just like last year, Dave Castro announced a workout for the CrossFit Games on July 4th. And again it was Murph. This time, however, it was a little more vague which leaves open the possibility that it will be for the Teens, Masters and/or Teams. Let’s take a look at what Castro said this year versus last year…

And so it begins. @crossfitgames #crossfitgames

Here’s what he said…

2015: “The first announced workout for the individuals at the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games is… Murph.”

2016: “The first announced workout for the 2016 Reebok CrossFit Games is… Murph.”

Castro is very calculated when choosing his words during the Open announcements and announcing workouts. His omission of “individuals” is very likely intentional so that would mean Murph could be thrown at any of the other divisions, most likely the teams.

Regardless of who ends up doing Murph, the Games season is officially upon us.
