The 2017 USA Functional Fitness (USAFF) National Championships released the list of athletes competing and the heats for the first event. The competition begins Saturday, September 9, and will determine the athletes competing at the first International Functional Fitness Federation (iF3)World Championships in October.
There are 22 men and 10 women competing this weekend. The top 12 men and top 12 women (or in this case all 10 women who signed up) will qualify for a spot on Team USA. The athletes will then be selected to compete as an individual or on a team.
The men’s line-up includes two CrossFit Games veterans, Alec Smith and Sean Sweeney, along with several Regional competitors. Sweeney will likely not compete as he had to withdraw from the Legion of Beasts Games this past weekend due to wrist and hip injuries.
