You either love her or hate her, and she knows it.

Brooke Ence is one of the most widely known CrossFit athletes in the world and she’s only competed in one CrossFit Games (2015). She recently surpassed 1 million followers on Instagram, has her own fitness clothing line “Ence Wear” , a Youtube Channel with over 140 k subscribers, a training program dubbed “Naked Program“, was cast as an extra in Wonder Woman and is by far one of the more controversial CrossFit athletes.

Ence went through spinal fusion surgery on her C6 and C7 vertebrae on March 31, 2017. Post surgery, she began a slow progression back into training at an elite level. For months, she wore a neck brace that was well documented.

She recently competed at the West Regional at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, Calif. As expected, Ence struggled early on finishing no higher than 34th place through the first three events.

I haven’t spent much time on social media today but I did want to just thank everyone for all the cheers today. I heard them, felt them and I felt so unbelievably grateful for ALL of you during both events today. • Now, I know a lot of you are probably thinking “Brooke I bet you’re feeling bummed about how day 1 went, but there are two more days and you’ve got this 💪🏼” In response I say- you’re half right 😉 … Yes I am bummed, because I’m competitive and I want to be the best, succeed and have the most epic comeback ever. Make it back to the games 1 year post cervical spinal fusion 🔥 ohhh baby. Damn that would be sweet , and it’s only day one sooo 🤔 But yes, initially I want to feel like I haven’t succeeded today because of where I am sitting on the leaderboard going into day 2 BUT the truth is , I have been working my ass off and it’s Incredible that I’m even here this year. Me and my coaches had a plan and I stuck to that plan and that is ALL I can do, I’m not happy about my current standing but I am happy that I have stuck to our plan and I did the best I could. Tomorrow is another day 😎 So…. it’s time to eat , sleep , and REPEAT. Cause there are 4 more workouts to go and I’m just getting started . However, she surged back in the final three events, finishing no lower than 14th and won her heat in Event 4. Ence finished 27th overall out of 40 athletes and has promised her and her fans a return in 2019.

Well….. I M B A C K. 💪🏼 – March 31st 2017 , Spinal Fusion of C6,C7 – Due to all the atrophy in my upper body, right after my surgery I got an MRI on my left shoulder and the posterior labrum was torn – With the help of my coaches and doctors, I had a plan to train as hard as my body would allow during my recovery with the Open and Regionals in mind. I of course constantly thought about my “Disney Moment” I was going to have – { 1 year post surgery and qualifying for the 2018 Crossfit Games} . That would have been the greatest comeback of all time. 🙌🏼 – I may not be going to the CF Games to compete this year but I did experience a “Disney” moment. I have NEVER felt more support during a competition in my life. I see 1M on my social media and I KNOW that it’s a lot of people and like to think all of them support me. But, actually until this weekend while competing in Del Mar, walking out with Heat 1 in all but 1 workout. I have never FELT or HEARD what it is like to have 1M. You guys are loud AF 🔥 and I want to say thank you AGAIN for keeping me going this weekend. I could not have done it without you. 💯 – Coming out of Regionals sore AF and continuing my recovery and epic comeback story 😎 📷: @doooker #itmakesence #thecomeback #crossfit
