Ben Bergeron appears to have had his athletes compete in a sprint triathlon over the weekend. Two-time defending champ Katrin Davidsdottir finished the Fallmouth Triathlon on Sunday and Brooke Wells did the same at the Ballwin Triathlon.
Wells finished the modified sprint triathlon in 1:07:26. The 300m swim, 9 mile bike and 3.4 mile run is slightly different than the official sprint triathlon and different from the triathlon Davidsdottir did on the same day.
Wells’ time was good for 4th in her age group, 13th among all females and 45th overall.
On the 300-meter swim, Wells did it in 6:24, a 1:57/100yd pace. She averaged 16.8 mph on the bike for a time of 32:04 and she ran a 7:32/mile pace.
While the swim and run were different distances, Davidsdottir’s paces were better than Wells’. Obviously both were competing in different conditions and on different terrains, but looking back at last year’s Ranch Trail Run, Davidsdottir has generally been the better “long distance” athlete. Davidsdottir took 4th in the Ranch Trail Run while Wells finished 37th.
