Dave Castro appears to be rested from the CrossFit Open and is now focusing on tormenting us with hints for Regional workouts. Fortunately, Castro’s first “hint” seems pretty obvious…the Worm will be seen at Regionals.
A mainstay at the CrossFit Games the past two years (plus a wooden version in 2014), the Worm has inflicted pain on many teams in Carson, California. With a picture of the Worm and a simple caption, “2017 Regionals”, it looks like the affiliate teams will face the odd object at regionals.
The Worm has been used by Castro to force teams to use teammate and communication rather than sheer individual athletic ability to find the strongest teams. Teams like two-time Affiliate Cup Champion CrossFit Mayhem have done very well in the Games events featuring the Worm (it doesn’t hurt that Froning has had experience with the Worm during the CrossFit Invitational events either).
