The top 20 athletes would await their fate when they toed the starting line for the Sprint event, vying for a spot in the top 10 to advance to the final day of the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games.
Spirits were broken when they saw their name below the cut line. There were 13 Games veterans that were cut following the Sprint event, three of whom finished atop the podium in 2018.
Noah Ohlsen is in the lead with three-time champion Mat Fraser breathing down his neck trailing by 15 points. Fraser made up for a few uncharacteristic events on Day 2 and this morning with back-to-back wins in the Split Triplet and the nightcap event, 1-rep max clean.
Reigning Fittest Woman on Earth, Tia-Clair Toomey, is back where she belongs –on top of the leaderboard.
With consecutive wins to close out Day 2, the Aussie CrossFit Queen is ahead of the competition by 85 points. Although that is not the largest margin Toomey has put between her and the rest of the field, there are not many events left.
It’s been a fight for second since this morning. CrossFit Mayhem Freedom is nearly 200 points ahead of second place CrossFit Krypton.
The foursome have yet to post a finish below fifth and have won four of the seven events. It seems that no one can touch the reigning champions once again.
