The first week of the 2017 Dubai Fitness Championship Online Qualifier is in the books. With two weeks remaining, Kara Webb and Peter Szczycinski sit atop the leaderboard. Behind them are a mix of big-time CrossFit Games veterans and Regional athletes.
On the women’s side, Webb is joined by Alessandra Pichelli, Annie Thorisdottir, Kari Pearce and Laura Horvath in the top 5. In total there are 22 CrossFit Games veterans vying for the 30 qualifying spots.
On the men’s side, Szczycinski finished 43rd in the Europe region during the 2017 CrossFit Open. His benchmark stats on his Games profile sport some impressive strength numbers including a 380-pound clean and jerk and a 300-pound snatch.
Behind Szczycinski is Lukas Esslinger and Lukas Hogberg in 2nd and 3rd, respectively. CrossFit Games rookie Tim Paulson is in 6th and Alex Vigneault, fresh off his Team Series win, is in 8th. There are a total of 20 CrossFit Games veterans on the men’s side.
Absent from the online qualifier are both of last year’s champions, Mat Fraser and Sara Sigmundsdottir.
The overall winner of the online qualifier will walk away with $9,000. The top 30 qualifiers will compete in Dubai this December for the $50,000 top prize. Here is the complete online qualifier leaderboard.
