After a day where Carol-Ann Reason-Thibault dominated the East Regional with two event victories, the two-time defending Fittest Woman on Earth Katrin Davidsdottir won both events on Saturday.
Davidsdottir, the favorite in the East, came out with a strong performance on Event 3 with very fast rope climbs. Rope climbs in the past had been Davidsdottir’s nemesis (legless rope climbs ended her 2014 season at the Europe Regional), but Davidsdottir employed a technique where she used her thighs to secure the rope and then locked in her feet after one more pull. The change worked as she moved quickly through the 10 rope climbs putting her back in 1st place on her way back through the chipper.
On event 4, Davidsdottir showed grit on the final round of 16 kettlebell deadlifts to pass Reason-Thibault for a 15-second win. The event victory gave Davidsdottir 200 points on the day and 385 points through two days, but she is still 5 points shy of Reason-Thibault heading into Sunday.
The women take the floor for the final two events on Sunday beginning at 1:15pm Eastern.
