We all watched in disbelief the first week of regionals when Lucas Parker was struggling to complete Event 1. While he would come back for Event 2, it was obvious something was wrong. Parker would ultimately withdraw from the competition Friday night.

Parker would later share details of Day 1 at regionals the following day, but there were still many questions remaining…and questions that he couldn’t answer.

It’s been two weeks since that weekend and Parker has written a blog post on his website giving more details of his training leading up to the East Regional and the subsequent things he has done to figure out why his body failed to perform.

Right now, Parker has been told that his blood and urine tests have produced “abnormal (but not immediately life-threatening) results”. Doctors have also indicated that they might do an ultrasound and even a muscle biopsy. But for now, there is still not definitive cause.

Because of this, Parker is not sure whether he will compete again. He leaves it as this, “So, the question is, am I going to do this again? Will I plan for a comeback, or will I retire and shift my focus?

Stay tuned to TheBarbellSpin.com as we learn more about Parker’s condition and his future competing.
