Mat Fraser was just 0.1 seconds shy of going undefeated on Day 3 of the 2017 CrossFit Games. After narrowly losing to Brent Fikowski by 0.09 seconds on the Strongman’s Fear event this morning, Fraser came back this afternoon in dominating fashion.

Fraser won the Muscle-Up Clean Ladder and followed that up with another event win on Heavy 17.5.

The two wins and a 2nd place finish put Fraser well ahead of the next competitor, Noah Ohlsen. Fraser holds a 174-point lead over Ohlsen going in to the final day of competition. With just three scheduled “blocks” remaining for Sunday, Fraser is looking almost impossible to beat once again this year.

Last year, Fraser won by 197 points, the largest margin of victory in the history of the CrossFit Games. The question for tomorrow is whether Fraser will be able to set a new margin of victory record.

The rest of the leaderboard behind Fraser has been a complete rollercoaster. Ohlsen, Fikowski and Ricky Garard bounced around the top 5 all day. Behind them, athletes like Scott Panchik and Pat Vellner have steadily moved up the leaderboard into 5th and 6th, respectively. Panchik took two 3rd place finishes and a 6th on “moving” day to break into the top 5.

The men also had their first withdrawal on Saturday. Mitchell Sinnamon withdrew before Heavy 17.5. The reason for the withdrawal is not known yet.

Final Standings After Day 3:
1) Mat Fraser (850)
2) Noah Ohlsen (676)
3) Brent Fikowski (656)
4) Ricky Garard (632)
5) Scott Panchik (612)
