Melissa Herman finished 10th overall at the CrossFit French Throwdown last weekend. Herman was looking to earn a trip to the CrossFit Games via the final Sanctional of the season after her Open score penalty knocked her out of the Top 20 worldwide.
Herman was near the top of the leaderboard all weekend long and in contention until the last event. Throughout all of the events, Herman unknowingly was competing with a ruptured oblique muscle and a major case of rhabdo!
Herman was unable to complete more than one toes-to-bar on the final event and ended up in the hospital following the competition. It appears Herman is now doing better, but unfortunately her 2019 CrossFit Games season has come to a close.

Well our France “vacation” has certainly been an adventure. Luckily we ran around and got to see a lot of awesome stuff before I competed as an elite individual at the @frenchthrowdown. It was an amazing event and the staff and volunteers were fantastic. I was just unlucky. I ruptured my oblique, and got hit with some major rhabdo. I survived all the events and even made it to the final while unknowingly having this injury. However, without @mattherman07 I would not have been able to do anything. Neither of us have really slept in the past 12 hours but I at least have a hospital bed, he has a folding chair. He is my rock and the best friend I could ask for. My forever boyfriend ❤️
