Sabrina Caron sits in 5th place overall after Day 2 at the CrossFit French Throwdown. The good news for Caron and the women chasing her is that the top 4 women on the leaderboard have already earned their spot to compete at the 2019 CrossFit Games. That means Caron will just need to hold off athletes like Mikaela Norman, Melissa (Doll) Herman and Anna Viggedal one more day to join the others in Madison in a few weeks.
At the top of the leaderboard is Jacqueline Dahlstrom, Carrie Beamer, Eik Gylfadottir and Emma Tall. Since all have qualified for the Games, the fight for the top spot is for bragging rights and the larger cash prize.
But the race to watch is behind the top 4. Caron has 478 points in 5th place, but is just 10 points ahead of Norman. Herman and Viggedal are also in contention. They are just 44 and 54 points back, respectively.
Sunday is the last day of the last Sanctional of the season. There are at least three scored events remaining to determine who is #GamesBound. Event 7 is a down-and-back chipper of handstand walks, pistols, box jumps and handstand push-ups. Event 8 is a snatch ladder with a SkiErg buy-in.
The final event has yet to be announced. We have yet to see rope climbs so we could see a fast rope climb couplet to end the Sanctional season. Stay tuned!
