After finishing 4th at the past two CrossFit Games and undergoing shoulder surgery this past offseason, it was unclear whether Sam Briggs would give it another shot at competing as an individual in the Open division. But as Regional invites went out this week, Briggs has accepted her invitation to compete at the Meridian Regional.
Briggs, who is now eligible for the new Masters 35-39 division, finished 1st in the Masters division AND 1st in the Europe region. By accepting her Regional invite, Briggs will have the opportunity to compete at the Games in the Open division, but she can also compete in the Masters Online Qualifier next weekend as a backup.
Should Briggs qualify in the Masters division and in the Open division, Briggs can decide which competition she wants to compete in. Either way, there’s a very good chance we will see Briggs on the CrossFit Games floor once again in 2017.
