CJ Cummings, recently heralded as the Lebron James of Weightlifting, is ranked the No. 1 69-kilogram male lifter of the Youth division. In September, Cummings won the gold medal at the Youth Pan American Games in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, with a 302kg total. This total put him two kilograms ahead of Liu Weijian of China.
In addition to being the best 69kg lifter under the age of 18, Cummings is ranked 6th as a Junior (age 20 and younger). He is also the top American in both of these age divisions as well.
What might be even more impressive is that Cummings is ranked 40th among all 60kg lifters worldwide at the age of 15. Alex Lee of the United States is ranked 20th with his performance at the IWF World Championships in Houston, Texas this past November where he posted a 316-kilogram total.
With two years left to compete as a Youth lifter, keep an eye out for CJ in the coming years.
