Over the weekend, Jared Fleming apologized via his social media accounts to those who were offended by his celebration after successfully snatching 170kg during the USA Weightlifting National Championships. Fleming’s lift broke Colin Burns‘ 169kg American record set at the Almaty 2014 World Championships.
Fleming wrote via Facebook, “I want to take a moment to extend an apology to Usa Weightlifting. I meant no disrespect to the organization or anyone involved by wearing and flashing a particular shirt at Nationals this year.” Full apology can be read here.
What do you think? Should Fleming felt the need to apologize to the USAW and the weightlifting community?
