Former CrossFit Games athlete Michele Letendre and Rachel Leblanc-Bazinet lifted in the women’s 58kg weight category for Canada yesterday at the 2017 Pan American Championships.

Letendre, a six-time CrossFit Games athlete, retired from the Sport of Fitness after last season and has focused on Olympic Weightlifting since then. Letendre qualified to compete on Canada’s team for the Pan American Championships and took the platform yesterday.

Letendre went 2-for-3 on the snatch finishing with an 84kg snatch. She struggled on the clean & jerk as she missed her first two attempts at 100kg, but would hit her final attempt at the weight to record a 184kg total, good for 8th overall.

Letendre is still involved in CrossFit and will be coaching Patrick Vellner and Carol-Ann Reason-Thibault next week in Madison, Wisconsin, at the 2017 CrossFit Games.

The name Leblanc-Bazinet might sound familiar, especially if you follow CrossFit. However, this Leblanc-Bazinet is Rachel, Camille’s sister. Rachel also took the platform along with Letendre and set PRs on both of her lifts. Leblanc-Bazinet finished with an 82kg snatch, 106kg clean & jerk and a 188kg total.

Rachel’s sister, Camille, will be competing at the 2017 CrossFit Games next weekend in Madison, Wisconsin.
