Team USA Men Take 2nd at Pan American Championships, Women Take 4th

The men of Team USA took 2nd in the team classification at the 2017 Pan American Championships. The eight men representing the United States racked up a total of 12 medals, of which five of those medals were gold.

Team USA racked up 553 points for the 2nd place finish, edging out Ecuador by 10 points thanks to consistency across the board.

Here are the men who helped get points on the board:

  • Angelo Bianco (2nd – 77kg)
  • Harrison Maurus (5th – 77kg)
  • Colin Burns (1st – 94kg)
  • Nathan Damron (6th – 94kg)
  • Wes Kitts (2nd – 105kg)
  • D’Angelo Osorio (6th – 105kg)
  • Caine Wilkes (1st – +105kg)
  • Ethan Harak (6th – +105kg)

The women of Team USA placed 4th in the team classification although the had the 3rd most medals. Courtney Batchelor’s failure to total in a deep 53kg weight category dropped her to 20th place, losing significant points for Team USA.

Sarah Robles walked away with all three of Team USA women’s gold medals. Mattie Rogers took home three silver medals. Alyssa Ritchey, Kathleen Winters and Caitlin Hogan also took home hardware from the event.
