The 2024 Argentina Throwdown was this past weekend. The CrossFit Licensed Event featured multiple divisions, including elite individual divisions for men and women. Athletes competing in the elite individual divisions were not only competing for the top of the podium and some prize money, the top male and female also would be invited to compete in the LatAm Cup at the 2025 TYR Wodapalooza this January.
On the men’s side, CrossFit Games veteran Augustin Richelme took the honors and stood atop the podium after winning three events. Richelme finished in first place with 786 points, 92 points ahead of 2nd place finisher, John Ignacio Sforzini. Maximilian Rasuk took 3rd place.
Heading to the women’s division, Alexia Williams returned to competition after undergoing surgery to repair a cervical disk herniation in her neck. Williams’ surgery was back in January 2024, thus she missed the 2024 CrossFit Games season after qualifying in 2023.
Now, ten months later, Williams is back on the competition floor. And she picked right up from where she left off. Williams never finished worse than 7th in any event and took two event wins on her way to the championship. Williams finished with 808 points, a whopping 152 points ahead of Natalia Faria Freire in 2nd place. Ana Carolina Martins Do Vale took 3rd place.
