The last time we saw Bayley Martin on a competition floor he was experiencing a heart issue that caused him to withdraw from Torian Pro. Now, five months later, Martin returned to competition at the Down Under Championship. Not only that, Martin found himself on top of the Elite Men’s division podium Sunday afternoon.
Martin finished with six top 3 event finishes, including three event wins. Outside of Event 1 where he placed 18th, it was nearly a flawless weekend for the two-time CrossFit Games veteran.

Martin would end up with 631 points, good for 1st place overall. Zane Shellabear-Healey took 2nd overall and Ben Fowler rounded out the podium in 3rd place.
Just five months ago it was unclear what Martin’s future might be in terms of competing at the highest level. At the 2025 Torian Pro Martin withdrew due to a mini heart attack suffered during the first event.
Since that episode, Martin was able to get back into the gym where he attempted to qualify for this week’s Rogue Invitational. However, he finished in 16th in the online qualifier, well outside the cut line.
Now, fast forward a month and Martin looks like he is well on his way to a full recovery.
As for the women’s side, Poppy Hay overcame a 22-point deficit in the final event to overtake Daisy McDonald by one point to win the Elite Women’s division. Isabella Vallejo would take 3rd place behind Hay and McDonald.
Head over to Competition Corner for the detailed leaderboard.
It was also a good weekend for PRVN Fitness. Both winners, Martin and Hay, are PRVN athletes along with Shellabear-Healey, who took 2nd place.
