With just a week out from the start, the only thing we know about the CrossFit competition at the Rogue Invitational is that the athletes will see a log press. How it is programmed is still a question. Beyond that, we don’t have any confirmation on the number of events or any other implements/movements that will be tested.
However, we do have the event schedule. Could that give some insight into what types of events we might see?

We know the Strongman competition has six events over the course of Friday and Saturday. Essentially every competition block those days will include the Strongman athletes taking the field. That is, unless they have two Strongman events in one competition window.
A couple things stand out when looking at the event schedule…
- Friday evening, the competition moves to Vendor Village. The third Strongman event is a max distance Husafell Sandbag Carry. It seems like the event will take place in the middle of Vendor Village…which would be awesome. And with 90 minutes scheduled for this block, it won’t take long for the 10 Strongman competitors to complete their max walk. Could we see the CrossFit athletes do the same event with a lighter Husafell sandbag?
- Last year the Legends competition had one event each day. Based on the schedule it looks like it could be the first block on Friday, Saturday night and Sunday morning.
- The Strongman competition will take on the log press on Saturday as Event 5. The event is a 50-foot yoke carry with a staggering 1,000 pounds followed by 3 overhead log lifts at 360 pounds for time. It would make sense to see the CrossFitters see the log press implement at the same time. Could it be a similar yoke carry followed by pressing the log overhead?
- And on Sunday, the Strongman competition is over leaving just the CrossFit and Legends. There are two competition blocks on the final day of competition. The first block is almost five hours followed by a short 45-minute final block of competition. Last year Sunday morning began with Event 6 for the individuals, followed by Legends and ended with the Rogue Record Breakers competition. All of that, however, only took roughly three hours. This timing could mean either a longer workout or an elimination-style workout like last year’s Event 7.
- And the final event will fit inside a 45-minute window. With 4 heats total, the final event looks to be one of the shorter, faster workouts.
In total, there are 8 competition blocks. Last year, the individual CrossFit competition had seven scored events. If that holds true in 2022, our best guess is that two events will be on Friday, three on Saturday and the last two on Sunday.Â
Hopefully we will get a clearer picture soon. Last year the CrossFit events were released three days before the start of the competition. Stay tuned…
