Emma Lawson, Jack Farlow, Sam Cournoyer & Carolyne Prevost Take on HYROX Toronto

Several CrossFit Games veterans headed to Toronto this past weekend to give HYROX a shot. Emma Lawson, Jack Farlow, Sam Cournoyer and Carolyne Prevost laced up their running shoes on Saturday.

Cournoyer was the only athlete of the four who competed in the individual division. More specifically, he competed in the HYROX Pro division against a tough field featuring two or three men who have a realistic show at qualifying for the 2025 HYROX World Championships in Chicago.

Cournoyer would end up finishing in 1:08:03, good for 23rd place overall. It was just over ten minutes slower than first place finisher, Marcus Wallace.

While comparing HYROX performances between locations can be tough (distances aren’t always exactly the same, different flooring impacts sled push, etc), Cournoyer’s performance was approximately six minutes slower than Ricky Garard’s attempt at HYROX last year in Australia.

Emma Lawson and Jack Farlow competed in the Mixed Doubles division. While there is a Pro Doubles division, it does not feature a mixed division. The running in the non-Pro division is the same as the Pro division, but the weights at the stations are lighter.

However, Lawson and Farlow ended up taking 5th place overall in the Mixed Doubles division with a time of 1:00:37. They also finished 2nd in the 16-29 age group division.

With their second place finish in their age group, the pair have qualified for the 2025 HYROX World Championships. The only problem is that next year’s World Championship is scheduled for June 12-15, 2025. This could interfere with Semifinals (if the CrossFit Games season structure is the same) or with training for the 2025 CrossFit Games.

Regardless, Lawson and Farlow will have the option to compete if they want.

As for Carolyne Prevost, she also competed in the Mixed Doubles division. Prevost competed with Brandon Sousa. The duo finished in 1:09:52, good for 48th place overall.

For Prevost, this fell in between two CrossFit competitions. Last month she competed at the NorCal Classic and next week she will be at Crash Crucible in South Carolina.
