From Coast to Coast: TYR Wodapalooza Adds Second Event in California

The VW bus is heading west. After a week of some hints on social media, TYR Wodapalooza officially announced that the fitness festival is expanding and adding a second competition in California. That’s right…now athletes and fans can experience everything the TYR Wodapalooza Fitness Festival has to offer twice a year!

Everything you know and love will stay the same for the Miami event in January. And then on September 20-22, 2024, Huntington Beach, California, will host the TYR WZA SoCal Fitness Festival!

“We’re proud to bring the same commitment to what has made Miami the destination festival for over a decade”, said Dylan Malitsky, VP of Loud And Live Sports. “California has a rich history in our sport and with our community. Huntington Beach will provide the perfect sister festival experience. We look forward to celebrating with our community on the West Coast.”

TYR WZA SoCal will have similar vibes to Miami in that the competition will be held on Huntington Beach with the Pacific Ocean as the background. With 1,000 athletes from around the world competing in various divisions, brand activations, fitness lifestyle experiences, including educational seminars and workshops, TYR WZA SoCal will be another premier competition run by Loud and Live.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to evolve and expand, and a second yearly festival and competition on the West Coast is a natural step as we continue to cater to WZA’s ever-growing global fanbase,” said Marco Sagrera, Chief Strategy Officer of Loud And Live. “It’s an exciting development for our at-large community, including fans, athletes, and our title partner TYR, who is expanding their commitment to include the TYR WZA SoCal.”

The expansion to Huntington Beach, California, makes even more sense when you factor in TYR as the title sponsor. TYR, which was founded in Huntington Beach, California, nearly 40 years ago, inked a multi-year deal with Loud and Live last summer to become the title sponsor of the TYR Wodapalooza Fitness Festival through 2025.

“TYR was initially founded in Huntington Beach in 1985, and we couldn’t be more excited to be bringing a premier fitness event to the community where our company first planted its roots nearly 40 years ago. As our partnership continues to grow with Loud And Live, we look forward to engaging with the athletes and spectators at both the Miami and SoCal Wodapalooza competitions”, said Matt DiLorenzo, CEO of TYR.

The TYR WZA SoCal event fits in nicely during the off-season and will be the first major off-season competition in the United States following the 2024 CrossFit Games and will fall in between the Games and the Rogue Invitational next year.

There are still some unanswered questions about the new California event including how athletes will qualify to compete, timing of an online qualifier, or how the Miami and SoCal events will be connected. And I’m sure there are plenty more details that Dylan Malitsky and his Loud and Live team will be sharing in the future.

And make sure to tune in to our YouTube channel tonight at 7:30pm Eastern / 4:30pm Pacific as Dylan joins the podcast to talk about TYR Wodapalooza’s expansion to California.
