The 2024 CrossFit Open may have kicked off this weekend, but that didn’t stop the SFA SandClash in Saudi Arabia. The three-day, six event, competition ran from Thursday through Saturday. The RX Individual divisions featured several CrossFit Games veterans and high-level Semifinals athletes including, Kalyan Souza, Luka Djukic, Toby Buckland, Artur Semenov, Julia Kato, Evie Hollis and Solveig Sigurdardottir.
On the women’s side, Julia Kato defended her title and won for the second consecutive year. Kato finished with two event wins and never finished worse than 4th in any event. Evie Hollis took 2nd place overall and Solveig Sigurdardottir rounded out the podium. All six event victories were earned by the three women on the podium.

For the men, this was a redemption year for Kalyan Souza. Souza finished in 2nd place last year behind Luka Djukic. This year, however, Souza was able to hold off Djukic to win the 2024 SFA SandClash by just a single point. Both Souza and Djukic never finished outside the top 4 in a single event and Souza beat Djukic by a single point on the leaderboard. Toby Buckland finished in 3rd place, just a point ahead of Artur Semenov in 4th.

With the competition ending on Saturday, that left two days for the athletes to finish 24.1. For Djukic and Hollis, both ended up doing the workout on Sunday when they returned from Saudi Arabia. Djukic completed 24.1 in 6:18 while Hollis finished with a time of 6:49.
