Roman Khrennikov on Rogue Invitational Withdrawal: “I Don’t Want to Show Up Unprepared”

Roman Khrennikov has withdrawn from the Rogue Invitational.

If you remember, Khrennikov withdrew from the World Fitness Project the last weekend of August. At that time, Khrennikov injured both legs during the competition. He hurt his left leg during the 40-yard sprint and then his right leg cramped during the 10k run on the following morning.

When he withdrew, Khrennikov did not think it was that serious. But now it appears that he was wrong.

The injury I got at the World Fitness Project was more serious than I thought. I waited for it to get better, but it never fully healed.
I don’t want to show up unprepared. I have competed through pain before in my life, and it never led to anything good.
So this time I choose to take care of myself. Time to heal the right way.

Khrennikov is the 5th male athlete to withdraw from the Rogue Invitational. He joins Pat Vellner, Austin Hatfield, Jonne Koski and Justin Medeiros.

As for who will replace Khrennikov, that has yet to be announced. And with only eight days until the start of the Rogue Invitational that could be a bit tricky.

Reggie Fasa would be next in line from the online qualifier while Noah Ohlsen is next up on the Rogue Points System.
