Taylor Williamson: The Unknown Threat

As the Rogue Invitational approaches on November 8th, all eyes are on the usual cast of CrossFit elites, with most of the men having competed in the 2024 CrossFit Games. The outliers in the men’s division—Jorge Fernandez, Noah Ohlsen, and Chandler Smith—are seasoned veterans.

On the women’s side, the lineup presents a similar pattern, with rising stars like Manon Angonese, Tayla Howe, and Dana Paran making their mark. However, one name stands out for an entirely different reason: Taylor Williamson. Known for her dominance in the team division, she enters the Rogue Invitational with an intriguing question mark.

For those unfamiliar, Taylor Williamson is arguably the most accomplished female team athlete in CrossFit history. She’s won the CrossFit Games twice with team Mayhem Freedom and has rarely missed the podium throughout her career, consistently finishing inside the top 3 at Semifinals or Regionals. She currently trains with Tia Toomey-Orr and Sydney Wells at PRVN HQ while she maintains her career as a Physician’s Assistant.

Yet, despite her overwhelming success in the team competition, she has never competed individually in a full CrossFit season. This begs the question: How will she perform at the Rogue Invitational? Over or under 13th place? With no previous individual season to benchmark against, it’s hard to say—but this first solo outing could reveal a new layer to Taylor’s CrossFit legacy.

One notable comparison is Manon Angonese, who finished 10th at the 2023 Rogue Invitational but has been sidelined due to injury this season. With Manon’s absence and the current roster of athletes, a line of over or under 13th for Taylor feels realistic.

Personally, I believe it would be incredible to see her break into the top 10—especially considering her longtime teammate Andrea Nisler finished 10th at the 2020 CrossFit Games. Taylor has been pushing alongside Nisler for years, and this could be her moment to shine as an individual.
