The 2023 TYR Wodapalooza competition is going to look much different for the elite athletes this January. In an announcement yesterday, the Wodapalooza organizers changed the schedule for the elite divisions of both the individuals and the teams of 3.
This year the individuals will compete the first two days (Thursday and Friday) of the competition on January 12 and 13. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, the elite teams of 3 competition will take the competition floor on January 14 and 15.
In previous years, the elite individual and team divisions competed at the same time for all four days. The new schedule will allow for athletes to compete in both the individual and team competition. There is a catch though, athletes wanting to compete in both will have to do both the individual and team online qualifiers.
Last year, the elite individuals and teams faced 8 events over the course of four days. The other divisions only competed three days and had 6 workouts programmed. With the new schedule, the quantity of workouts will be decreased this year given the shorter two-day schedule.
Athlete reactions to the announcement on Instagram were positive as it gives them the opportunity to showcase their talents individually and enjoy the team aspect over the weekend.
However, some fans didn’t have the same reaction…especially those who had already booked their flights and hotels for the weekend.
