The Northern California Classic is a 3-day competition featuring athletes of all levels from elite individuals to RX, Scaled, Masters, Teens and Co-Ed Teams. In total there are 15 divisions with a staggering $128,000 cash prize purse with $75,000 going to the elite divisions.
Last year saw Sean Sweeney and Brittany Weiss take the top spot in the men’s and women’s elite divisions. This year many are looking forward to the elite men’s division as Colten Mertens, Tudor Magda and Taylor Self will be in the field. Add in Sean Sweeney and plenty of Semifinal athletes and CrossFit Games Team veterans and the men’s competition will be exciting.
On the women’s side, Carolyne Prevost is the only athlete with individual CrossFit Games experience. However, Emily Rethwill and Lauren Stallwood both have Games experience on team. Plus, there are plenty of Semifinal-caliber women in the field including Trista Smith, Ellia Miller, Liz Wishart, Emily White and Katelynn Sanders (to name a few).
