The World Fitness Project has slowly started talking about the upcoming Rec League in recent interviews over the past several months. But details on what that might look like has been under wraps…until now.
On the World Fitness Project’s website, a page has been created that outlines how the Rec League will work.Â
WHEN
June 15: Registration opens for athletes and teams
July 6: Score submission window opens
July 20: Score submission window closes
DIVISIONS
The Rec League will feature three different divisions:
– Individual
– Mixed Gender Duo (M/F)
– Same-sex team of 3
Athletes may register for one or multiple divisions.
WORKOUTS
The actual programming has not yet been released, but those competing will have the entire two-week window to complete the workout. While not confirmed, it does appear it will only be one workout based on the language on the website.
The WFP website states that the Rec League is for everyone regardless of experience level. However, it is not known if the workout will include a scaled option or if it will be accessible to all fitness levels.
PRIZES
It appears that “top performers will have a chance to win prizes!” Video submissions will be required to be eligible. No details on how many athletes or what the prizes will be.
IN-HOUSE LEADERBOARD
One interesting thing about the Rec League site is that the registration link takes you to what appears to be an in-house leaderboard system. While most leaderboards (outside of the CrossFit Open) are on Competition Corner, the WFP Rec League page has a separate page for its leaderboard.
The top of the page says it is a “pilot program”.
