2015 CrossFit Liftoff Announcement

CrossFit HQ just announced a new online competition focused around Olympic Weightlifting. Partnering with Rogue Fitness, the CrossFit Liftoff will consist of “two max-effort lifts and a test of GPP.” The competition will take place between November 5-9, 2015. To be eligible, all workouts must include a judge and must be posted online.

It is the first CrossFit competition that will be based on weight classes. The weight classes, however, will not be the standard kilogram increments found in Olympic Weightlifting. The increments are in pounds, not kilograms, and will mainly be used for comparison purposes. A custom Rogue weight belt will be given to the top 3 totals in each weight class, but the larger prizes will still be based on all competitors. The weight classes are below.

Men – 135/150/165/180/195/210/225/226+
Women – 110/120/130/140/150/160/170/171+

A $3,000 USD prize will be awarded to the biggest snatch, clean and jerk, and total for both men and women. Additionally, the largest overall total, not yet defined, will take home $3,000 USD and a bunch of weightlifting gear.

The top 5 overall totals will take home prize money and gear. And finally, the top 3  “Best Pound-for-Pound” athletes will also take home $3,000 (1st), $2,000 (2nd) and $1,000 (3rd). The “Pound-for-Pound” total is equal to (snatch + clean and jerk)/bodyweight.

There will also be Masters and Teenage divisions, in which the top 5 overall totals in each division will win Rogue equipment packages.

Cost to compete is $10 and registration begins Thursday, October 15 at games.crossfit.com.
