The TFX Invitational was this past weekend. Hosted in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the TFX Invitational fielded athletes from the North America West region as they fought for qualifying spots to the 2025 CrossFit Games.
After seven scored events, four CrossFit Games veterans punched their ticket to Albany, New York.
On the men’s side, Nick Mathew and Chris Ibarra were in control most of the weekend. Both comfortably qualified for the CrossFit Games. Ibarra returns to the CrossFit Games after his rookie debut last year. Mathew will make his third appearance at the Games. He qualified in 2022 and 2023.
The women’s competition was easily won by Olivia Kerstetter. Kerstetter, who fell outside of a qualifying spot in the In-Affiliate Semifinals following a penalty from the video review process, left no doubt on the competition floor this weekend. Kerstetter finished with four event wins and never finished worse than 5th. She earned 682 points out of 700 total.
The second qualifying spot was a different story. While Hannah Black was in the top 2 most of the weekend, Rachel Noel, Caitlin Bernardin and Sydney Michaelyshen were keeping it close.
Heading into the final event, however, Michalyshen had moved into 2nd place overall, just three points ahead of Black. With heavy cleans following a short run, Black seemed to be in position to take back the 2nd place spot from Michalyshen. However, after going touch-and-go on the first two barbells, Black failed her first clean attempt at the heaviest bar.
Michalyshen would hit both reps and cross the finish line to secure her spot to the CrossFit Games.
