During the first heat of the CrossFit Total, the clouds rolled in along with some rain. As it began to rain the commentators discussed the wet platforms and how that could impact the athletes attempting to squat more than 400 pounds on their back.
On Alexandre Caron’s final back squat attempt at 455 pounds left him on the ground. In a replay, Caron began to fail his rep and went down to lower the weight and ultimately dump it behind him. However, as he went back down his left foot slipped out sideways from under him causing his right foot to do the same. Luckily he was able to get the weight off his back behind him, avoiding even further injury, As he stood up he was moving his right knee as if it was in pain.

Caron would end up continuing on and finishing the CrossFit Total, but he was in obvious discomfort as he had a slight limp as he walked to the shoulder press platform. Caron finished 10th in the event, lifting 1,205 pounds. However, he would not make it into the Coliseum to attempt the Marathon Row.
