On the final day of the 2019 CrossFit Games, the athletes made their way to Lake Monona to take on Even 9, Swim Paddle.
SWIM PADDLE
1,000-m swim
1,000-m paddle
Time cap: 50 minutes
Both the men and women dashed toward the boat ramp and the rest was history. Toomey and McLeod stretched their lead to nearly 50 meters during the swim, then casually held a conversation during the last 250 meters of the paddle to secure 100 points each.
It was the second event win for rookie McLeod and Toomey’s fourth. With three events to go, Toomey looks to widen her lead and be the first woman to win three total CrossFit Games and the third athlete to win at least three consecutive (Rich Froning, Mat Fraser) Games titles.
