Bojte Barni is in Contention to Qualify for CrossFit Games

If you have been following the CrossFit Open for the past several years, you likely have seen a story or two about Bojte Barni. Barni, from Romania, made headlines in 2016 when he did 16.1 with barbell lunges on an uneven grass field. Since then, Barni has dealt with some injuries, but has been steadily improving.

In 2016, Barni finished 3rd in Romania and 6,000th worldwide. In 2017, Barni took 2nd in Romania and moved up to 1,097th in the world. Last year Barni missed the Open due to an injury.

This year, under the new CrossFit Games qualification format, Barni might be able to accomplish his goal of making to the CrossFit Games. After two weeks, Barni is in 2nd place on the Romanian leaderboard. He is just one point behind Severin Irimia with a few hours left to submit scores for 19.2.

Irimia only finished 342 reps on the squat clean ladder while Barni was able to finish 19.2 in 19:23. Back in 2016, Barni only finished 258 reps.
