Brent Fikowski has confirmed that he will be traveling to Shanghai, China in April (27-29) to compete at the Asia CrossFit Championship (ACC). Fikowski’s announcement comes a week after it was reported Camille Leblanc-Bazinet would be looking to qualify for the CrossFit Games out of the Chinese Sanctional.
Fikowski has yet to compete in a CrossFit-sanctioned competition this season, which is one of the ways to qualify for the Games under the new format. Fikowski’s main competition at the ACC would by Jacob Heppner, the winner of the online qualifier. That is, however, if Heppner decides to travel and compete in the Sanctional. Heppner finished 3rd in the Dubai CrossFit Championship (DCC) online qualifier, but declined his invitation. Mat Fraser would go on to win the DCC qualifier.
Outside of Heppner, Bartek Lipka and Will Kane are the only other athletes most CrossFit fans would be familiar with at the ACC. Lipka finished 27th at the Europe Regional in 2018 while finished 9th.
The ACC would most likely be Fikowski’s best opportunity to qualify for the Games at this point. After two weeks of the CrossFit Open, Fikowski is not winning his country leaderboard or in the top 20. He is, however, in contention and could qualify for the 2019 CrossFit Games with a strong final three weeks.
