Carly Fuhrer Taking 2018 CrossFit Games Season Off

Carly Fuhrer’s name is on the 2018 CrossFit Open leaderboard. Fuhrer is 445th in the world and 58th in the West Coast region. But just because she is near the top of the leaderboard it does not mean she will be advancing to compete at Regionals.

Over the weekend, Fuhrer shared on social media that she is taking the 2018 CrossFit Games Season off. Fuhrer commented, “Its been a tough decision, but for the last 6 or so months its been quite a wild ride, lots of big life changes, and training has been on the back burner. Thru all that I have made the decision not to compete in 2018.”

She continued, “I decided awhile ago that I wanted to take 2018 off to enjoy life, go back to school, wreck my body on the snowy mountains 🏂, and overall try to enjoy training again, competing isn’t what i need or want at the moment, and im 100% ok with that, and so thankful for my sponsors being so supportive and in agreement with my decision.”

I did the first open workout for fun with my friend and training partner Cody, to support him and have the fun of doing the open without feeling like I needed to post a competitive score, I ended up signing up, cuz a friend from my gym gave me the perfect reason too, thank you @amyludz . I may do more of the open workouts, and I may not 🤷🏼‍♀️, supporting @lyon_kira and @codyanderson2_34 is what I’m loving doing right now, but the important thing is I that I am taking a much needed break to enjoy myself. Thankful fo be able to spend more time at home and with my daddy too. Thank you all for your continued support on my journey and I look forward to being back for the 2019 season, cuz i will be back🤟🏼… that is if I don’t become a professional snowboarder instead 😉 best of luck to everyone this 2018 season! & keep rockin’ those #sideponies @crossfitgames @blonyx @romwod @m2performancenutrition @kiloflexfitness @sfh @rxsmartgear @greaterthan @crossfit_type44 @aimees2cents @sweattshopcincinnati

A friend convinced Fuhrer to sign up for the Open. She did and has had fun with the Open the first two weeks.

Fuhrer has made it to the CrossFit Games the past two years, finishing 31st last year. Fuhrer’s plan is to make a comeback in 2019.
