Chantelle Loehner and Lauren Herrera Sanctioned for Failing Drug Tests

CrossFit, Inc. has announced that Chantelle Loehner and Lauren Herrera have failed drug tests coming from in-competition testing at the Mid Atlantic CrossFit Challenge (MACC) in April. Both athletes have been suspended from CrossFit competitions for four years.

Loehner had already commented publicly that she had failed an in-competition drug test at the Mid Atlantic CrossFit Challenge and had requested her B sample be tested. It appears that the B sample also tested positive. Loehner tested positive for metabolites of Oral Turinabol, a banned substance.

Loehner competed on Invictus X alongside Sam Dancer, Holden Rethwill and Maddy Myers at the MACC. Invictus X won the team competition and would have received the invite to the CrossFit Games. Because Loehner violated CrossFit’s anti-doping policy, Invictus X is not eligible for the invite via the MACC. Dancer, Rethwill and Myers all passed their drug tests and are eligible to compete in future CrossFit events.

Loehner also qualified as an individual by finishing in the Top 20 during the CrossFit Open. Loehner’s qualifying spot will be passed on to the next eligible athlete. With the closure of this process, CrossFit will be finalizing the women’s leaderboard and all pending invitations will be sent to Open qualifiers and Sanctional invitees.

Herrera was also competing at the MACC as a member of the SouthEast Beasts. Herrera tested positive for andarine, a metabolite of LGD4033, and metabolites of GW1516, both of which are banned by CrossFit. The SouthEast Beasts withdrew from the final two events of the competition.
