Clean: Tia-Clair Toomey & Mat Fraser Record Consecutive Event Wins

When there is a heavy barbell, all eyes are on the reigning champs: Mat Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey.

Alliant Energy Center was electric as Toomey and Fraser — arguably the best lifters in recent Games history — took first in the one-rep max clean.

Toomey went toe-to-toe with Amanda Barnhart, lifting 265 lbs. for the win. Fraser   went back and forth on the barbell with Scott Panchik. His 380 lb. clean was five pounds higher than Panchik.

The event win puts Fraser closer to leader Noah Ohlsen, who tied for fifth with a 355-lb. clean. Toomey is now ahead of Kristin Holte by 85 points and Fraser trails Ohlsen by only 15 points. If anything, we know the last day will be the closest race to the finish on both sides in CrossFit Games history.
