Yesterday via the CrossFit Games Instagram account, it was announced that the individual and team winners will receive a Glock pistol. Very quickly comments began rolling in on both the CrossFit Games post and Dave Castro’s repost. The most vocal comments appeared to be against the prize while many did support the announcement.
After almost 24 hours since the original post, the CrossFit Games post has received almost 75,000 views and over 2,100 comments. Dave Castro’s post received another 50,000 views and over 1,200 comments.
With all of the controversy, it appears that it has been confined on the CrossFit Games social media and has yet to spill over to Glock, Inc.’s Instagram page.

Following the backlash, Dave Castro posted a hint at Team Event 5 on Instagram. The photo featured a Glock pistol on top of hundred of bullets next to a notepad with a handwritten workout.
