Dave Castro continued sharing hints for the 2018 CrossFit Games on Wednesday. A day after showing drawings of layouts of the North Park and Coliseum, Castro shared a few more on his Instagram story.
The first story (of two) hinted at a team workout. Castro had two pairs, MM and FF each circled separately. As he panned his camera up the whiteboard, the pairs were then all circled together. After that he panned the camera left and there was a piece of paper above the whiteboard with “Wednesday” and below that on the white board was written “North Lot”.
So first…WEDNESDAY! Last year the Games began for everyone on Thursday with the Run-Swim-Run event. This year it appears Castro is moving the Games up to Wednesday (like it was back in Carson). Does this mean that Thursday will be a day off or will the athletes compete for five straight days?
The “North Lot” is not an official venue. There is a North Park, but that does not appear to be written on the whiteboard. The North Lot is likely just outside the North Park and is close to Quann Park, where last year’s Cyclocross was held. It is also near the path that took the athletes outside Alliant Energy Center and to the swim portion of Run-Swim-Run.
Our guess is that Quann Park will be turned into a longer Spartan Race-like event, something like the Tough Mudder X event that just took place last weekend.
The Zeus Rig Returns!
We thought the drawings shared by Castro the day before looked like the Zeus rig from Carson…and we were right! Last year the North Park did not have a rig for pull-ups, muscle-ups or rope climbs. This year, the massive Rogue Rig will be in Madison.
On Friday, the Rig will be awaiting the athletes. The question now is, how will Dave Castro use it in the new venue? And how long will it be set up?
