Dave Castro Offers First Hint of the 2018 CrossFit Open

We are only one day in to 2018 and Dave Castro has already begun hinting at this year’s CrossFit Open. In 52 days hundreds of thousands of CrossFit athletes around the world will be anticipating the workout details of 18.1. But until then all we can do is speculate.

Castro fueled the fire this morning by releasing a photo on Instagram with the caption, “18.???…”. The image features two 50-pound dumbbells, a barbell loaded with 135 pounds, and tape lines the floor.

18.???…

Last year Castro introduced the dumbbell to the CrossFit Open for the first time. The first two workouts did not include a barbell, but instead a dumbbell (or two). The first workout, 17.1, featured dumbbell snatches and burpee box jump overs. The next week athletes used two dumbbells for a 50-foot weighted walking lunge.

In 2016, Castro introduced the 25-foot distance with overhead walking lunges with a barbell. How Castro will use the dumbbells, 25-foot segment and the barbell is anyone’s guess at this time…

Stay tuned as we get closer and closer to the start of the 2018 CrossFit Games season.
