Dumbbell Hang Clean and Jerks in 18.1

We knew 18.1 would feature a never-before-seen movement…and Dave Castro did not disappoint. The newest movement to appear in the CrossFit Open is the “Dumbbell Hang Clean & Jerk”. With just one dumbbell, athletes will be doing five hang clean and jerks and then switching arms to do five more.

The new movement comes in between two common Open elements, toes-to-bar and calories on the rower.

20-minute AMRAP:
8 Toes-to-Bar
10 Dumbbell Hang Clean & Jerks (5 each arm)

During the live announcement, Sam Briggs took on Kristin Holte. Briggs maintained her pacing and was able to hold on against Holte. Briggs finished with 409 reps to Holte’s 379. Briggs completed over 13 rounds.
