The Masters Online Semifinals concluded this past Monday, April 11. The top athletes in each age group will qualify to the 2026 Masters CrossFit Games. However, the leaderboard for the Masters Online Semifinals will not be finalized until Tuesday, May 26.
Between the score submission window closing and the leaderboard being finalized for the Masters Online Semifinals, the French Throwdown and Torian Pro will host an in-person Semifinal for Masters athletes.
Thus, the question is…what happens if someone qualifies from both the Online Semifinal and the French Throwdown (or Torian Pro)?
Section 3.02 of the 2026 CrossFit Games rulebook states in that, “If an athlete/team finishes in a qualifying position in multiple competitions, they will retain their Games invitation from the first competition from which they qualified. Their rank will be passed over in subsequent competitions (in-person Semifinals OR online Semifinals) and the Games invitation given to the next in line (i.e., backfilled).”
The problem, however, is that the rulebook does not specify whether someone qualifies via Online Semifinals when the score submission window closes or when the leaderboard is finalized.
CROSSFIT’S OFFICIAL RESPONSE
However, I have reached out to CrossFit to get the official answer on the Masters Online Qualifier, French Throwdown and Torian Pro will work with respect to order of qualification.
According to CrossFit, the order will be:
- French Throwdown
- Torian Pro
- Masters Online Semifinal
That is, if someone finished in a qualifying spot in the Online Semifinals, but also qualified at the French Throwdown, that athlete would qualify out of the French Throwdown. And their qualifying spot from Online Semifinals would be backfilled by the next athlete in the Online Semifinals.
So for those who are currently just outside a qualifying spot in the Online Semifinals, start rooting for athletes who are ahead of you and competing at the French Throwdown and Torian Pro. Because if they qualify there, the next man (or woman) in the Online Semifinals will get an invite.
