Froning and Mayhem Freedom Fail to Qualify for the CrossFit Games

Rich Froning and his team, Mayhem Freedom, are not used to not finishing on the podium. However, that is exactly what happened yesterday as the Elite Co-Ed Teams of 4 competition wrapped up at the 2019 Wodapalooza CrossFit Festival.

CrossFit Mayhem Freedom ended up finishing 5th overall in the field of 13 elite teams. It was the first time Rich Froning has ended off the podium in a CrossFit-sanctioned competition. Froning was joined by Dre Strohm, Kristin Miller and Tasia Percevecz.

The team that did win was a super-team comprised of four CrossFit Games veterans from around the world. Cody Mooney, Alec Smith, Jamie Greene and Jessica Griffith teamed up as ROMWOD/WIT gathered in Miami, Florida, and beat some of the best teams/athletes to earn an invite to the CrossFit Games along with a $25,000 cash prize.

In second place was the Team LesserEvil, comprised of Lauren Fisher, Regan Huckaby, Rasmus Anderson and Tommy Vinas. The team had already earned a berth to the CrossFit Games after winning the team competition at the Dubai CrossFit Championship last month. However, the four Games athletes walked away with a $20,000 check.

Rounding out the podium was Team Misfit. The Misfits were made up of Jordan Cook, Chandler Smith, Mekenzie Riley and Chyna Cho.
