Rich Froning has done it again. For the fourth year in a row (excluding 2020) and the sixth time in seven years, Froning’s CrossFit Mayhem Freedom team has won the CrossFit Games Team title.
The win brings Froning’s total Games championships to 10, four as an individual and now six on a team. The last time Froning and Mayhem Freedom did not take home the gold medal was when Wasatch CrossFit in 2017.
Throughout Mayhem Freedom’s dominance, Froning has been the only consistent piece of the puzzle. Year after year, the Mayhem Freedom roster would change. This year, Samuel Cournoyer replaced Chase Hill. Before Hill it was Dre Strohm.
On the women’s side, Andrea Nisler and Taylor Williamson have been on Mayhem Freedom. Both Nisler and Williamson competed on Team OC3 Black, one of Mayhem’s toughest competitors.
But regardless of the year or the roster, Mayhem Freedom once again dominated the team competition this year. Mayhem Freedom won the last seven events of the competition to once again run away with the team title.
Behind Mayhem Freedom was CrossFit Oslo Navy Blue (Nicolay Billaudel, Elvind Dahl Ringard, Ingrid Hodnemyr and Lena Richter) in 2nd place. In 3rd place was CrossFit Invictus (Joshua Al-Chamaa, Jorge Fernandez, Devyn Kim and Brittany Weiss).
CrossFit Mayhem Freedom earned $100,000 for its 1st place finish. CrossFit Oslo Navy Blue took $70,000 back to Norway and CrossFit Invictus made $40,000.
