Giorgos Karavis’ 2025 CrossFit Games Season Over After Failing to Submit 25.1 Score

Giorgos Karavis just posted a time of 4:27 on 25.2 of the CrossFit Open. At the time of this article, it’s the 6th best time on the men’s leaderboard. However, Karavis only has one more Open workout remaining before his 2025 CrossFit Games season is over.

Why? Well, if you look at Karavis’ 25.1 score you’ll see there isn’t one. I reached out to Giorgos to find out what happened.

“I missed the time to post my score as I was in the maternity hospital…because we have a baby now!” Karavis told The Barbell Spin. Karavis’ partner, Maria Ntasi, was giving birth to their child when scores were due.

Karavis did complete 25.1, but was focusing on his family and failed to submit his score before the submission window closed. Karavis said he had a score of 308 reps, or 20 of the Burpees over the Dumbbell in the round of 30.

One of the requirements to qualify for the 2025 CrossFit Games is that an athlete must finish in the top 1% of the 2025 CrossFit Open. By not submitting a score, Karavis earned 110,577 points on 25.1, effectively eliminating him from continuing the season.

As for the remainder of the year, Karavis said, “I’ll just continue training and have my full focus on my family.” But that doesn’t mean you won’t see him on the competition floor this year. Karavis has been confirmed for the Uroboro Summer Competition and the Far West Championship, both European competitions.
