It was poetic. When Tia-Clair Toomey won her first CrossFit Games in 2017, Dave Castro said there is always an event where the victor has a statement workout. In 2019, the 1-rep max clean was the statement for Toomey.

Toomey’s 265-lb. squat clean to defeat Amanda Barnhart was when everyone else in the Coliseum witnessed what would define her third consecutive title of Fittest Woman on Earth.
Four events would remain, but the Aussie knew an utter meltdown would be the only obstacle between her and standing atop the podium draped in the Australian flag.
